Singapore is a state island in Southern Asia and an international hub for education, technology, tourism and manufacture. The public transport in Singapore includes trains, buses and taxis.
The MRT- mass rapid transit is the train system which will take you to any location in Singapore. There are single tickets, Singapore Tourist Pass and EZ-link cards. The special tickets can be bought at different stations of the MRT system.
The bus network in Singapore is very extensive and it is also a cheap way of getting around. The same cards and passes which are available for paying the train fare, are legit for buses as well. If you choose to pay the bus fare in cash, make sure you have the exact change. The buses are very comfortable, air-conditioned and offer a fast and safe service.
There are two airports which serve Singapore: Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Singapore Seletar Airport (XSP). SIN is located 24 km from Singapore city centre, while XSP is located 20 km from the city centre. From both places to get to the city centre you can use a bus, subway, taxi or private airport transfer.
If you choose the subway as a mode of transport from SIN to Singapore city centre it will take you 29 minutes, and you would have to make a transfer at Tanah Merah. The subway is a cheap way to get to the centre from SIN. On the other hand, if you land on XSP there isn't an option to choose the subway.
Bus number 36 will take you from SIN to Singapore city centre in 48 minutes. The bus frequency is every 5 minutes and the price is pretty low. If you are landing on XSP, buses number 103 and 806 are headed to the city centre, however, at some point you would have to make a transfer to the subway in order to get to Singapore city centre.
Airport taxis are available at both SIN and XSP outside the terminal buildings. If you choose a cab from the many waiting at the designated taxi rank, make sure that it is from a reputable company. Also, be aware that you might be charged extra for night rides, rides during holidays and extra luggage.
