The metro is the main transport option in Greater Cairo. The rapid transit system includes three lines that carry more than 4 million passengers per day. All three lines pass through Cairo’s city centre. Cairo’s metro system operates from 06:30 to 23:00 every day.
The bus network is extensive, but it's only recommended for short trips. The buses and minibuses are not very comfortable and air-conditioned. Major bus stations are Midan Abdel Moneim Riad and Midan Ataba.
Cairo has railway connections to other Egyptian cities. The main railway station is Ramses Station, located on Midan Ramses.
