Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal. The public transport system uses a combination of the metro, buses, trams and trains to make it easy for travellers to get to nearly any local destination.
The metro operates six different lines which are conveniently marked with different letters (A through F) and by different colours. All metro lines converge at the Trindade stop. The metro operates from 06:00 to 01:00 every day.
There are three tram lines in Porto which are an excellent transport option for sightseeing. Line 1 runs from Passeio Alegre to Infante and is heavily used by tourists. The same tickets can be used on the bus and the metro, as well.

The Campanha train station is located in the eastern part of the city and the starting point for the trains to Douro, Minho and central Portugal (Aveiro, Coimbra and Lisbon). Both light and suburban rail services connect this station to the city centre. The main central station in Porto is Sao Bento, which is a notable landmark located in the heart of the city.
Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) serves the city of Porto and it is located 11 kilometres northwest of the city centre.
