Phnom Penh, once known as the "Pearl of Asia", is the economic and cultural centre of Cambodia. The Cambodian capital is a major tourist destination with beautiful French colonization architecture and booming food scene. Public transport in Phnom Penh includes city buses that run on eight routes. The buses are air-conditioned and comfortable, although not very punctual due to traffic conditions. Phnom Penh is connected by bus with the major cities in Cambodia, such as Sihanoukville, Oudong, Kampot, Kampong Chhnang and Siem Reap. Regular buses run to Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok, as well.
Phnom Penh Airport (PNH) is the largest in Cambodia. It handles domestic and international flights to many destinations in Asia, which makes it the busiest one in the country. It is located 10 km from Phnom Penh.
City bus route number 3 runs from Phnom Penh Airport to the Night Market, passing through Russian Boulevard, 7 Makara bridge, Kampuchea Krom Boulevard and Norodom Boulevard. Taking the city bus is the cheapest airport transfer option. The shuttle bus is another alternative, and it's especially convenient if the bus makes a stop near your hotel.
