Tallin has a well-developed public transport that consists of bus, tram, trolleybus and train network. Trams and trolleybuses are only to be found in the capital of Estonia. The bus network is the backbone of Tallinn's public transport, while the trolleybuses and the trams provide limited service.
Buses cover the Tallinn city area, as well as, all the districts in the area. They are especially heavily used in Pirita, Lasnamae and Nomme districts, where buses are the only option. Regional bus routes connect Tallinn with the towns in Harju County. The Tallin Bus Station handles the intercity and international bus connections.
The tram network is relatively short with 4 lines that serve the Tallinn city centre and the surrounding area. Recently, the tram line 4 was extended to Tallinn Airport. Trolleybuses cover the western part of the city, especially the Mustamae and Haabersti districts.
Commuter trains are convenient for residents of Harju County as they provide regular connections to Tallin. The trains pass through the Kristiine, Nomme and Lasnamae districts to the main railway station, Balti jaam.
