The suburban railway network connects Kolkata suburbs with the metropolitan area. It operates with six lines and 19 branch lines, with several interchange stations with the metro.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) is Kolkata's main airport operating mostly with flights to South East Asia; however, there are several flights to and from Europe too. Bus route VS1 operates from Kolkata Airport to Esplanades every 30 minutes during the day. Another route, VS2, runs between the Kolkata Airport and Howrah every 10 minutes, while bus routes V1 and SV8, connect the Kolkata Airport with Tollygune.
