Yangon is the former capital of Myanmar (Burma) and the largest city in the country. Many tourists come to visit this city with amazing colonial-era architecture and magnificent temples. The bus network covers the city of Yangon and its suburbs. There are several bus companies that provide local bus services, but the routes are confusing and not convenient for tourists. However, the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is improving the public transport system and includes two routes through the city centre and to the north of Yangon.
Trishaws are the typical for Myanmar and you can find them around the central area near markets, train stations and along the main roads. They're not very comfortable and can be used only for short trips.
Commuter trains connect Yangon to its satellite towns. The circular railway route starts and terminates at the Yangon Central Railway Station. Also, there are regular trains to other cities in Myanmar, such as Naypyidaw, Myitkyina, Mandalay, Taunggyi, Lashio, Shwebo, Mawlamyine and Dawei.
Yangon International Airport (RGN) is the busiest in Myanmar. With two international and one domestic terminal, it is the primary in the country. It's located 15 km from the city centre.
