New York City is the most famous and most populous, metropolitan city in the USA. New York City is the centre of fashion, entertainment, tech, tourism, attracting visitors from all over the world. The public transportation system in New York is extensive and consists of buses, taxis, subway, ferry, pedicab and bike.

The bus system in New York takes you to destinations which are not reachable by a metro. The service is available 24 hours a day, every day. The bus is run by the MTA - Metropolitan Transportation Authority which offers regular and express buses. The fare should be paid with a MetroCard or in cash if you have the exact change. You should wait for the bus at the bus stop and hail it to stop.

If you want to avoid traffic on the road, taking the subway is a great way to get around New York. New York Subway is the busiest, largest and oldest subway networks in the world.

Trains also operate quite frequently in New York City, connecting it to the suburbs. People usually use the railway network for longer destinations which link New York to the surrounding area.

Boats and ferries are also a way to explore NYC. The ferry costs as much as the bus and the train which is $2.75 for a trip.

Pedicabs are also a way of transport in NYC if you are planning a short distance trip. If you are planning on riding a bike yourself you can rent a bike and discover the city this way.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) serve NYC. JFK is located in Southern Queens, around 25 km from Times Square. LGA is in Northern Queens, 17 km from Times Square. To get to you destination from both airports you can take the bus, train, subway, taxi or private airport transfer.

If you want to travel from JFK to Times Square by bus, the NYC Express Bus will take you in an hour and a half.. If you land on LGA the travel time by NYC Express Bus to Times Square is one hour. The bus runs from 11 am to 7 pm in JFK and LGA.

The cheapest way to get to the city centre from JFK is choosing the Airtrain, then the subway.  However, this is not a convenient way to travel if you carry luggage, because you would have to lift it and there may not be much space for your suitcases. If you are landing in LGA you can also choose the subway as the cheapest mode of transport. However, you would first have to catch the bus which goes to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave Subway Station and from there proceed with the subway.

Shuttles are another way to get to your destination from both JFK or LGA, no matter where you land. You can ask for directions on where to catch a shuttle at the Information desk for ground transportation. However, you have to bare in mind that travelling by shuttle means sharing the ride with people you do not know and those would have to be dropped off at their destinations as well.

Airport taxis from JFK to Manhattan charge a flat fare and they charge extra in peak hours, for extra luggage and on holidays. The travel time from LGA to Manhattan is 30 minutes.

Instead of coping with the hectic and overcrowded public transport, booking a private airport taxi is your wisest choice. Our door-to-door service includes meet and greet at the arrivals hall, free cancelation of your reservation, free updates and flight monitoring for flight delays. This is something you will especially need if you are landing in LGA which is known for flight delays. Our prices are fixed per vehicle and there are no extra or hidden charges.
